Release life cycle overview
Neptune DXP - SAP Edition’s release life cycle provides a clear, structured progression that balances ongoing improvements with reliable long-term stability.
To keep upgrades predictable, Neptune DXP - SAP Edition follows a semantic version (SemVer) release methodology:
MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH
-
MAJOR: Introduces breaking changes to the platform.
-
MINOR: Delivers routine feature releases without breaking existing functionality.
-
PATCH: Supplies safe bug-fix updates and small corrections.
Each release type includes a defined support window, ensuring you always know which versions are maintained, how long they receive fixes, and when to plan upgrades.
Neptune DXP - SAP Edition release strategy
Each major version consists of a sequence of minor releases, and each of these minor releases receives Medium-Term Support (MTS). When a new minor release becomes available, the previous one continues to receive updates for an additional six months, ensuring a smooth and predictable upgrade path.
The final minor release in a major cycle is designated as the Long-Term Support (LTS) release. This version is maintained well beyond the regular MTS window and continues to receive critical updates for two years after the next major version is released.
