Set up a rule

In this topic, you learn how to set up a rule in the Rules Engine.

Prerequisites

  • There are no prerequisites.

Procedure

  1. In the Cockpit, select the Rules Engine tool.

    Result: A table of all rules available in the system is shown.

  2. Select Create.

    Result: The Create Rule dialog opens.

  3. In Name, enter a meaningful name for the rule.

  4. Select Create.

    Result: You start in the General tab of the rule.

  5. In Package, assign a development package of artifacts to the rule.

  6. In Description, enter a meaningful description for the rule.

    Selecting a development package facilitates deployment by combining data from the same development package.
  7. Select the Role tab.

  8. Select +Add.

    Result: The User Roles dialog with all available roles in the system opens.

  9. Select a role. Result: The rule only applies for users that have this role assigned.

    You can use the Role tool to define or change roles.
  10. Select Save.

    Result: The Rules Engine tool adds an ID to your rules and saves change dates.

Results

  • You have completed initial setup for the rule and can add attributes and conditions to the rule.
