Create an app from a Fiori application
The App Designer can import a standard SAP Fiori application from a connected SAP system and turn it into a standalone Neptune application. Neptune copies the application’s files, including its component IDs and controller logic, so you can open, edit, preview, and deploy the application in the App Designer like any application built on the platform. Because the result is an independent copy, you can extend it, bind it to OData, add offline capability, and maintain its views without affecting the original application on the SAP system.
Use this path when you want to own and develop a Fiori application on the platform. To run a Fiori application live from the user launchpad experience without importing it, configure a Fiori Application tile instead. See Add actions to your tile.
This path supports standard SAPUI5 applications.
Prerequisites

A remote system of type SAP is configured in the Remote Systems tool, pointing to the SAP system that hosts the Fiori application you want to import.

Both your Neptune DXP - Open Edition and Neptune DXP - SAP Edition systems run version 25.0 or later. The App Designer can list and import Fiori applications only when both systems are on 25.0 or later.

On the SAP system, the ABAP Development Tools (ADT) node is active in transaction SICF, under
/sap/bc/adt. The App Designer uses this service to read the Fiori application’s files. -
Your user has the SAP authorizations needed to list and read the Fiori application’s files on that system.

You have a development package to import the application into, if your system requires one. See Add a new development package and integrate with Git.
Procedure

In the App Designer, open the Create menu and select Create from Fiori Application.
Result: The Import Fiori Application dialog opens.

In Name, enter a name for the new application. The name becomes the identity of the imported application and cannot be changed after the application is created, so choose a meaningful name for its purpose.

In SAP System, select the remote system that hosts the Fiori application. Only remote systems of type SAP are listed.

In Fiori Application, open the value help. The App Designer retrieves the list of Fiori applications available on the system you selected in SAP System. Search for the application by name, then select it.

In Package, select the development package to store the imported application in.

Select Create.
Result: The Fiori application is imported into the App Designer as a new application in the selected package.

The Fiori application is imported into the App Designer as a new, standalone application. Its files are stored as resources, and you can open, edit, preview, and deploy it like any application built on the platform.
What to expect after import
An imported Fiori application needs some developer adjustment before it runs. When you first open or run it, the application can appear as a blank screen until you complete these adjustments.
Open the browser console to see what the application reports, then resolve each item. Typical adjustments are adding a missing library or applying a code fix. The exact adjustments differ from one application to the next, so review each imported application on its own.
The import copies the application’s user interface resources. Data connections, such as OData services, still reference the source SAP system. Configure the imported application’s data sources against a destination on your platform before the application can load data.
| Apply these adjustments manually for now. Fixing imported Fiori applications using Naia Build in agent mode is not yet recommended. Deeper in-platform assistance is planned for a later release. |
