Configure a Fiori Application tile

The Fiori Application tile type is available as a beta feature. As the tooling continues to develop, you may notice updates and improvements over time.

Known issues:

  • Fiori apps built with Fiori Elements do not work as Fiori Application tiles.

  • Apps, such as My Inbox, may not work as Fiori Application tiles.

  • Apps that may run in desktop user launchpad experiences may not run in mobile clients.

  • The behavior may change depending on the Fiori version.

A Fiori Application tile opens a standard SAP Fiori app inside the Neptune DXP user launchpad experience, so users reach their SAP Fiori apps and their Neptune apps from one launchpad without switching tools. The tile runs the app as it is on the SAP system, without importing or changing it. In this topic, you configure a tile for this by setting the tile’s action type to Fiori Application.

This action type supports standard SAPUI5 apps. To take ownership of an app and develop it on the platform instead of running it as is, import it into the App Designer. See Create an app from a Fiori application.

Prerequisites

  • Your SAP system runs an Neptune SAP Edition instance on version Neptune DXP - SAP Edition 25.0 or later.

  • Both your Neptune DXP - Open Edition and Neptune DXP - SAP Edition systems run version 25.0 or later. The Fiori application search help lists apps only when both systems are on 25.0 or later.

  • A remote system of type SAP is already configured in the Remote Systems tool, pointing to the SAP system that hosts the Fiori app you want to open.

  • In the System Settings tool, under Integrations → Fiori Remote System, Enabled is switched on, and Fiori System is set to the SAP remote system that has Fiori enabled.

  • Your SAP system has the Fiori Launchpad (FLP) and UI5 ABAP Repository (UI5_UI5) services active.

  • The intended users for these tiles have the appropriate Fiori roles in SAP.

  • You have created, or are editing, a tile in the Tile tool.

Configure a dynamic route rewrite rule for each remote system

If you configure Fiori Application tiles against more than one SAP remote system, each of those remote systems needs its own rule in the Dynamic Route Rewrite tool, so that the Fiori app’s own network requests are correctly proxied to it.

For each SAP remote system used by a Fiori Application tile, create a rule with the following values:

Replace <remote-system-id> with the ID of the remote system, shown on its detail screen in Remote Systems. For example, for a remote system with ID 1f9ea74d-cb6d-4eb1-8181-11998f9b0c80, the Incoming Path Pattern is:

Procedure

  1. Open the tile you want to configure in the Tile tool, or create a new one.

  2. Under Action, select Type to Fiori Application (Beta).

  3. In System, select the remote system that hosts the Fiori app you want to launch. Only remote systems of type SAP are listed for this action type.

  4. In SAP SICF Node, enter the SICF node path for the app if your system requires one.

  5. In Application Name, open the value help. This opens a dialog that retrieves the list of Fiori apps available on the selected system.

  6. Select the Fiori app you want the tile to open. The Application Name field is filled in with the app’s name.

  7. If the selected Fiori app has a semantic object and action configured, the tile’s Semantic Object and Action fields, under Navigation, are filled in automatically.

    If you change the selected System after picking a Fiori app, the Application Name, Semantic Object, and Action fields are cleared, since the previously selected app no longer applies to the newly selected system.

  8. Save the tile.

Results

  • The tile now opens the selected SAP Fiori app directly in the user launchpad experience when a user selects it.

Troubleshooting

If a Fiori app returns an error when a user opens the tile, the cause is often the user’s configuration on the SAP system, for example a missing authorization for an ICF service. Check the user’s SAP-side setup for the app.

If an app does not display as expected, submit a support ticket to Neptune Support. During the beta development phase of the functionality, these reports help extend support to more Fiori apps.

Next steps

  • Assign the tile to a Tile Group, so it appears on the user launchpad experience.

  • Assign the appropriate roles to the tile so the intended users can see and open it.
