Test the process flow
This task runs the process flow from inside the Process Flow Designer, so you can rehearse it before real data reaches it. From inside the designer there is no app or script triggering the process flow, so you build the starting data by hand with the test data builder.

You have sent an email, so the process flow is complete.
Procedure

Open the process flow, and select Test.
Result: The test data dialog opens, where you build the starting payload.

Add the data the process flow starts with. When the Interface tab has inputs, selecting Add item offers the matching input names to fill in. See Define the interface.

Optional: to enter the payload as text, select JSON Editor. The payload matches the structure you declared on the Interface tab, so you can copy that JSON as a starting point and fill in the values. For the candidate-review example:

Selecting Import in the JSON editor overwrites the whole test payload. Any entries in the builder are replaced by what the editor holds.

Select Test to run the process flow with the payload you built.
Result: The canvas shows a live preview of the path the run takes, as it happens.

When the run reaches the User Task, it pauses and waits for a person to act, and the live preview does not advance on its own. To carry the run through to the end, open the Process Flows Overview to follow the run, and complete the task in the Process Flow Inbox app by selecting Approve or Reject. See Monitor a run.

Test data has an effect only when the process flow is run through the Test button inside the Process Flow Designer. When the process flow is triggered from a script or an app, test data is ignored, and the caller supplies the payload instead. See Trigger a process flow from an app or a script.
