Insert an interface to the PDF Designer
In this topic, you learn how to insert an interface to the PDF Designer. With an interface, you define areas that contain data that could be called via an API.
| To define the interface from a connector instead of by hand, use the General tab in the Interface area (Interface and Test Data). A connector’s field catalog defines the interface and makes it read-only, so the steps below do not apply. See Use a connector as the PDF interface. |
Prerequisites

Your PDF template is in editing mode. To put your PDF template in editing mode, select the toggle to edit icon.
Procedure
Add an interface

In the PDF Document Settings tab, select Add.

Enter a name and a description for the interface.

Select a type for the interface.
Result: You have added an interface.
Import an interface

In the PDF Document Settings tab, select JSON Import.

Enter the JSON data you want to import.

Select Import.
Result: You have imported an interface.
Make manual changes to an interface

In the PDF Document Settings tab, select JSON Export.

Result: A JSON file is downloaded to your browser.

Make manual changes to the interface within the JSON file as desired.

Reimport the interface by selecting Import.
Result: You have exported an interface, made manual changes to it, and reimported it.
