Create attribute for translation

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Go to the I18n Text & Translation tool and select your created global i18n model.

  2. In the Attributes tab, select Add Attribute.

Result: The Add i18n Attribute dialog opens.

  3. In Attribute, enter an attribute name, for example, HomeButtonText.

  4. In Base Text, enter the underlying text to serve as the base text for translation, for example, Home.

  5. If you want to continue to add another i18n attribute, select Add more.

  6. Select Add.

  7. In Type, assign an SAP attribute type, for example, General textXTXT.

The SAP attribute type can be useful to categorize the attribute to provide more specific component object context for human or machine translators during the translation process.
  8. In Max. Length, enter the maximum number of characters the translated attribute text can contain.

The character limitation applies to all defined locales.
  9. In Description, enter a meaningful description for the attribute.

  10. If you need to add a child attribute, copy an attribute, or rename an attribute, perform the provided actions in the Actions column.

Results

  • You have created an attribute (and child attributes) with base text for translation and further general metadata.
