Neptune DXP - Open Edition

Main tools and services

The Neptune DXP - Open Edition comprises the following main tools and services:

  • Launchpad

  • App Designer

  • API Designer

  • Script Editor

  • Adaptive Designer

  • Workflow

  • Naia Agent Studio

  • Naia Build

  • SAP Integration Hub

  • DXP Marketplace

Launchpad

The Launchpad hosts applications and provides these applications with services, such as navigation and personalization.

The Launchpad serves as the single entry point to the Neptune DXP - Open Edition.

The Launchpad consists of tiles and tile groups, which are displayed depending on the role of the user.

Each tile represents an application that a user can open. Tiles can also show live data.

The Launchpad can host the following applications, which can run in parallel:

  • Applications built in the Neptune DXP - Open Edition

  • Applications built in the Neptune DXP - SAP Edition

  • HTML5 web applications

  • React applications

  • SAP WebDynpro applications

For more information, see Launchpad.

App Designer

Use the App Designer to create HTML5-based applications.

  • Comprises over 200 Open UI5 framework components, ranging from basic elements to complex UI patterns. You can use the components out of the box or extend them to meet your requirements.

  • Enables developers to quickly integrate APIs with no-code data binding.

  • Supports manual or automatic language translation, using Google Translate. Your apps can automatically become multilingual.

  • Comes with an integrated tool to see the API architecture of an app.

  • Application building blocks speed up development by combining modular groups of elements.

  • Offers a built-in version management. A UI sample library review enables the testing of interfaces and functionalities before implementation.

For more information, see App Designer.

API Designer

With the API Designer, you create and configure reusable API definitions.

  • Comes with a graphical user interface.

  • Enables you to create API operations manually, import them from another Open Edition, or a Swagger 2.0 file.

  • Generates APIs for tables within the Neptune DXP.

For more information, see API Designer.

Script Editor

With the Script Editor, you create server-side scripts that run in their own separate process on the server. You can use APIs, tables, global scripts, and npm modules. Scripts are used to extend your instance beyond standard configurations.

With a script, you can automate processes, add functionalities, and integrate your instance with outside applications.

For more information, see Script Editor.

Workflow

With Workflow, you design, build, run, and manage workflows, starting from simple approvals to entire end-to-end processes that span across different organizations and applications.

Workflow facilitates and automates processes that require tasks to be performed by humans. Each step of a transaction can be easily monitored. Processes are completed from the beginning to the end.

For more information, see Workflow.

Naia Agent Studio

With Naia Agent Studio, part of the Naia for Business suite, you configure and manage the AI agent capabilities available to business users in the Launchpad.

  • Provides a unified environment for defining agents, AI tools, and guardrails.

  • Powers the integrated agentic chatbot interface available to end users in the Launchpad.

  • Manages agent logic and behavior independently of how agents are surfaced in individual applications.

  • Integrates with Naia Build at a defined boundary: UI placement and API connectivity of agents within an application are handled in Naia Build, while the underlying agent logic remains in Naia Agent Studio.

For more information, see Naia Agent Studio.

Naia Build

With Naia Build, part of the Naia for Developers suite, you generate, extend, and maintain enterprise applications using natural language, directly within the App Designer.

  • Generates UI components, application logic, and data integrations from natural-language instructions.

  • Operates as an AI-powered layer on top of the existing App Designer toolset, requiring no separate design environment.

  • Manages the placement and API connectivity of agents within an application; agent logic itself is configured separately in Naia Agent Studio.

  • Supports iterative development — extend or modify existing applications as well as generate new ones.

For more information, see Naia Build.

SAP Integration Hub

With the SAP Integration Hub, you define and manage integrations that connect directly to SAP systems. This toolset requires a valid license extension that enables the framework.

  • Stores, transports, and executes APIs directly in the connected SAP back end via standard SAP transports.

  • Includes the Hub API Designer for defining APIs backed by ABAP logic.

For more information, see Hub API Designer.

Application building blocks

Application building blocks are modular and reusable development components that vary in size from small code snippets and connectors to larger groups of user interface components and entire application templates.

Neptune provides a library of these application building blocks. You can download them in the Neptune DXP Marketplace.

For more information, see Neptune DXP Marketplace.
